What is the Desi Calendar?

The Desi calendar, also called the Punjabi calendar, is an old system of timekeeping that has been used in Punjab for a long time. Unlike the regular calendar (the Gregorian calendar) that is used around the world, which is based on the sun, the Desi calendar uses both the moon and the sun. This means that the months in the Desi calendar are tied to the seasons, which is important for farming.

The Desi calendar was created a long time ago to help farmers know the best times to plant and harvest their crops. Even today, many festivals and cultural events in Punjab are celebrated according to the Desi calendar.
